Colourful Paddington Bear statutes have been popping up all over London as part of the Paddington Trail, and I love spotting them! If you’re not familiar with the story, Paddington Bear was discovered by the Brown family in Paddington railway station, and brought home to live in Notting Hill. He has come all the way from deepest darkest Peru, surviving mainly on marmalade. His adventures around London and with his new family are hilarious stories, and I remember loving to read them as a child.
The statutes are part of a campaign for the new movie, but are also a fantastic way to explore London – you can follow one of a number of recommended trails that lead you past museums, parks and icons like St Paul’s Cathedral, or try to find all 50 statutes! You can find the various maps on the website here, and I’ll be updating my map below as I find them myself.
The bears are more than just an advertising campaign or even a great way to explore London – many of them will be auctioned from the 10th of December to raise funds for the children’s charity NSPCC, a fantastic cause.
I’ll be updating my Facebook album as I find more bears – keep checking back for my shots. And I’d love to hear if you’re also following the Trail, or if you found a bear yourself!
