I don’t know whether it’s the fun of dining al fresco or my major food FOMO which is best quelled by having multiple small courses, but I have major love for street food markets. While you can’t go past the big beasts like Borough and Broadway for pure variety, I also appreciate the smaller markets like Netil and Maltby St for their sweet size and emphasis on quality. So when I saw that Little Feast had popped up for the summer in Shepherd’s Bush, I knew I would have to give it a try!
Since moving from Hammersmith to central, I don’t venture out into the leafy green streets of West London as much any more. However I knew the journey would be worth it as soon as I laid eyes on the fabulous Scandi-chic of Little Feast. Tucked next to the railway arches between Shepherd’s Bush and Goldhawk Road, its wooden furniture, white accents and beautiful blooms instantly won me over. This must be a serious contender for London’s cutest street food market!
But what, there’s more… YOU CAN BOOK TABLES. Londoners will know how awesome this is… it does have to be for a group, but how cool a spot would this be for a celebration?
As it was still pretty chilly (thanks, London “summer”) we nabbed a table indoors while we considered our next move. That ended up being straight to the bar, where the craft beers, wines and cocktails on offer caused some momentary indecision. A delicious vodka concotion in hand, I moved on to browsing the food options.
Tough decisions
This was definitely a tough choice. Little Feast offers Cuban, BBQ, cheese toasties and my selection, delicious juicy Cheeky Burgers. I opted for the Cheeky Hot Daddy, because I am never one to turn down a few extra jalapeños! My dining companions also went the comfort food route, opting for burgers and cheese toasties. From the virtual silence at the table as we chowed down, it was pretty clear all was delicious!
Burgerlicious
There was just one thing missing… a little little something something to round off the night. Fortunately, Marshmallowist had me covered, with my favourite huge coconut marshmallow. While we couldn’t toast them over a fire like at Kew Gardens, they were given a blowtorch blast… and then I improvised!
We had a lovely evening at Little Feast and I wouldn’t hesitate to venture over West again to sample some more of its delights… there is pulled pork waiting for me!
