Happy New Year! Another year, another year of travel plans to make! I had a whole bunch of amazing adventures in 2016, and I’m excited to have a whole bunch more in 2017. The only question is, as ever – how to narrow it down? Here’s my wishes for what 2017 might hopefully hold for me.
The Baltics
I’m fascinated by the Baltics, perched in between the sea and Russia. While I don’t yet know much about the history, I’ve seen enough of the colour-splashed streets and heard of the delicious food and fascinating culture to know I’d like to make it up this way in 2017.
More Scotland
Always, always Scotland makes my wishlist. I loved my time in the Highlands in 2015, and my fleeting visit to Glasgow this year. Isle of Skye, more of the Highlands, pretty lochs and soaring skies… I’m coming for you!
The United States (Trump dependent)
As long as the US doesn’t become a no-fly zone any time soon, I’d love to travel there for the first time. The Big Apple has always called, but lately I’ve also been dreaming of the South – it might be time to resurrect the road-trip plans of many years ago!
It’s the Sailing Life for Me
Well, for at least a week. Ever since I finished my amazing week sailing around the Saronic Islands in Greece, I’ve wanted to sign up for another sailing holiday. Sun, beautiful blue waters, gorgeous islands – what’s not to love? This time I might look at Italy… Medsailors have a brand new itinerary there that is calling my name.
Active Adventures
I love getting out into the great outdoors – I just need to remember how much it lifts my spirits and rejuvenates me to be in the countryside. After awesome adventures including hiking the Seven Sisters and Mount Snowdon this year, I’m on the lookout for some more active escapes – and there’s no shortage of them!
España
My sister and her boyfriend move to Southern Spain in February – the perfect excuse for some “quality time” aka exploring! After loving every Spanish place I’ve visited so far, it’s far to say the bar is pretty high for the south. Somehow, I don’t think it’ll disappoint!
That feels like some good wishes for the year – and I’m sure that like Madrid in 2016, there will be a few unforeseen but very exciting adventures along the way in 2017! What’s on your travel wishlist for the year?
