This week marked five years for me of living in this beautiful, historic, frustrating, amazing city. Moving to London has been the best thing I’ve ever done and I’ll always have a special place in my heart for the city.
Five years of being fascinated by history all around me, learning random facts, stopping in awe at ancient buildings, stately homes and monuments. Five years of visiting palaces, old Tube stations, “Roman” baths, of reading every blue plaque I can see and imagining myself back in time. Five years of loving London.
Five years of pubs, clubs, house parties, and drinking on the Tube (whoops!). Five years of secret cinema, immersive theatre, classic plays, incredible musicals. Five years of loving London.
Five years of amazing old friends, making new friends, hilarious flatmates, brilliant blogger buddies. Five years of laughs, long chats, rambles, brunch catch-ups, Food Baby Club, and many (many) coffee dates. Five years of loving London.
Five years of sunrise runs, park life, barbecues, snow, hiding from the rain, beer gardens, rooftop yoga in the sun, Christmas mulled wine around a fire. Five years of loving London.
Five years of Glastonbury, British Summer Time, Brixton Academy, Kentish Town, Ultimate Power, pub gigs, stadium gigs, Lovebox, Wireless and Bestival. Five years of loving London.
This isn’t an easy city. It can confuse you, tire you, anger you, present you with grey skies for what feels like weeks on end. But with all that it’s given me, I wouldn’t change it for the world. Thanks for an amazing five years London!
