Medsailors Croatia was an amazing week filled with incredible Croatian land and sea-scapes, laughs and multiple pods of dolphins! The beautiful villages were captivating to visit, but sailing in between them is truly magical. Spending a week exploring with fantastic friends makes for one very special holiday.
We saw every colour of blue out there, and I loved to lay out on the trampoline watching the waves slip between the hulls.
Relaxing on our first evening on the boat
Long-time readers may know I’ve previously sailed with Medsailors around Greece and Sicily, and had an amazing time each holiday. There’s eight or ten of you on each boat, plus a skipper or two, and you can either organise your own boat-load of friends or be matched up with others. You sail the most beautiful places, and the team take great care of you, but your time is still your own – it’s a great way to see these islands. And (although I’d be happy to affiliate with them, haha) all my trips have been completely on my own dime – I just think they’re a great company.
Sunset in Solta
Gorgeous Vis harbour
In Vis, we wandered around the harbour, drinking in the views from the path that runs the circumference of the bay. Before long the heat had us seeking some shade, and it turns out that Vis also has the most gorgeous little alleyways as well!
It was not far out of Vis that we had our first encounter with a pod of playful, beautiful dolphins. They were so curious, swimming alongside the bows and angling to watch us, as we exclaimed in delight watching them. For years I was convinced I would be a marine biologist – thanks inability to do calculus for dashing that dream. But my wonder at these fascinating animals remains and I was utterly captivated as they stayed with us for what felt like hours.
One of the busiest places we visited was Hvar. We moored up in Stari Grad and bused over the hill into the bustling harbour town. We started at the beautiful castle lookout, before descending for cocktails, delicious food, and a few more cocktails – let’s just say Hvar knows how to throw a party, and the bar Kiva the Destroyer is aptly named…
Looking back up at the lookout spot and this beautiful town
The swim stops are without a doubt one of my favourite things about a sailing holiday. The Medsailors Croatia crew know some fantastic spots, with cliff jumps, crystal clear waters, and stunning bays to relax in. It’s pretty easy to get into holiday mode here!
The weather didn’t always favour our sails, but it was easy enough to motor between the islands. That way, there’s more time to be soaking in the vistas or relaxing with a good book. However, when there was enough breeze, our fantastic skipper Bea and first mate Henry (we take full credit for his hashtag #henryatthehelm!) got the sails up and we coasted along the waves.
I like the sound of Captain Jessi!
The most amazing stop was at Hora Farm, an incredible organic lavender and olive oil farm with vines as well! We tried all of their delicious produce, and I can’t decide whether the wine or the tasty olive oil withe fresh bread was my favourite.
Maybe my favourite part was actually our hilarious photoshoot!
If you’re looking for a fun holiday for your group in the sun and sea, check out Medsailors Croatia – it is a brilliant time!
