Hi friends! Long time, no write. No excuses from me, it’s a weird year for us all. But I did get up to lots of fun stuff in August, September and October, and I’ve always loved documenting it here. So here’s some snaps!
I started the month with a fabulous weekend away with some of my favourite women at Mangawhai Heads. Less than two hours from Auckland, we blew the cobwebs away on the beautiful coast.
And then Auckland went back into lockdown for two weeks. This one felt much tougher than the first, so I can very much sympathise with those facing the prospect of a second, third or more lockdown. Part of what made it mentally tough for us was the builders next door being allowed to keep working and tearing down the neighbour’s house – not ideal when you’re working long days!
I had an amazing trip away with my work team-mates to Pukawa, nestled on the shores of Lake Taupo. A three hour drive away, it was very do-able for a fun weekend!
The highlight was white water rafting with the amazing team at Tongariro River Rafting (photo credit for these two photos!) We felt hugely safe, even when one of the group’s rafts punctured, and they were very knowledgeable and fun.
We had an awesome five days away in New Plymouth in Taranaki for Labour Weekend. It’s not somewhere I’ve spent much time but we had a huge amount of fun sampling all the delicious local eats, hiking and spending time by the sea… even if the weather wasn’t always the best!
We finished October at a huge gig, Synthony, where the Symphony Orchestra played massive dance tracks from the last 30 years. There were thousands of people there and I know that we were all incredibly grateful to be so lucky. NZ is one of the very few places in the world right now where you can party like this safely. I don’t take it for granted and I’m happier than ever that we returned to this little oasis at the corner of the world!
I wrote one blog post in this time, which was to update and rework my guide to Eating My Way Around Wellington. The coolest little capital in the world has a lot of good eats!
How are you going? Can you believe it’s basically a month til Christmas… and then roll on 2021!
Keep up with more of my adventures here:
