Somehow, it’s been eight years of blogging at my little corner of the internet. I had just got caught up on writing about all my international adventures, was excited to blog all about New Zealand – and then hello pandemic. Now I think it’s time to get my writing mojo back!
But first to celebrate – some of my favourite adventures from the past eight years of blogging! Now that the vaccines are starting to roll out around the globe, it’s possible to look at these without utterly despairing. Hopefully, if you’re reading, this is a bit of inspiration for you too.
Once I survived Oktoberfest, I loved blogging all about how to survive Oktoberfest! It’s still one of my favourite festivals – lots of music and dancing and midnight rollercoaster rides!
I always love eating my way around a place, and Eating My Way Around Paris is no exception. It’s not the easiest place to be lactose-intolerant – but it’s worth making the effort!
Living in New Zealand, I developed a few survival tactics for Flying Long-Haul. Hopefully, I’ll get to give them a go again some time soon!
One of my most popular posts ever is 7 Awesome Things to Do in Bergen, a colourful little city on a Norwegian fjord.
One of the advantages of having my sister and now-brother-in-law studying all over Europe, was being able to jet around to see them! 36 Hours in Lyon was just long enough to get a taste of this gastronome’s heaven.
Another adventure started off visiting Tom and Zoe in their then-home city of Granada, and then taking a family trip around Southern Spain!
The best thing I did in my time overseas (and that time we flew back from New Zealand) was Glastonbury Festival. Incredible music, arts, some of my best friends every time. It truly is my kind of religious experience.
And now one of my favourite New Zealand adventures so far – 4 Days Biking the Otago Rail Trail. All of the best of NZ – gorgeous scenery, lovely people, and the cutest little lambs!
It’s hard to imagine jetting around the globe the way we did 18 months ago. In New Zealand, we pulled up the drawbridge. It’s been awful for people outside trying to get in, and seeing families divided is heartbreaking. Hopefully, the vaccines starting to roll out around the globe now are heralding a way back to some kind of normalcy, although with so much tragedy still, it’s kind of hard to imagine. But I hope in a year’s time we are all through this and able to plan some adventures, whether local or international. For me, it’ll be seeing family. Where will you head to first?
