Great way to start the year at Mount Maunganui
Yes, I’m well aware January is over and done, but I had so much fun in this epic summer month that it deserves its own post. So many adventures, so much beach time, so many good eats! And even a festival to round the month off. Wow January, you were packed!

No filter, just the smoke from the Australian bush fires reaching New Zealand. A chilling reminder that climate change is here and it’s terrifying – and many times more so for those in Australia
Lucky the latest batch of cuties at the farm can distract us
Joe and I escaped to a staycation in the Waitakere Ranges, with this distant view over Auckland
Is there anything better than that first sight of the waves? This is Karekare Beach
More surfing at Piha Beach
Fuelled by this truly epic brunch from Piha Beach Cafe!
Didn’t get tickets to the Tennis Classic, but the Moët Lounge was a very classy second-best spot to watch!
A boiling hot run but worth it for these views from Narrowneck Beach to Rangitoto!
And another run checking out a new Parkrun at beautiful Western Springs Park
My sister Zoe came to visit so of course we caught up over delicious lunch, at Major Sprout
In love with this beautiful sunset from Cheltenham Beach in Devonport
Checking out the fab new rooftop dining precinct at Westfield Newmarket
But just as happy with Wise Boys vegan burgers on Takapuna Beach
Zoe and I also loved doing a Parkrun together at Hobsonville Point – formerly an airbase, hence the airplanes!
Celebrating Auckland Anniversary Day with a walk up North Head for this phenomenal view
Before checking out Benee and other great musicians at the Laneway Festival in Albert Park
I have to say that January already feels like a lifetime ago. As I write the tan is fading, the mornings are cooling, and we’re turning our minds to Easter plans and a winter break. But January was such a great month, I’m glad I’m still celebrating it!
What does your March hold for you?
