June feels like a blur – back to work, back to “normal” life. I even caught a flight! With the return to New Zealand’s level 1 of our Covid alert frameworks, we are now basically allowed to do everything we normally would, except that our borders remain closed to everyone who’s not a New Zealand resident. I’m planning for more domestic adventures, but June mostly featured some great sunshine and foodie fun!
I flew to Wellington at sunrise – for work rather than a holiday. It was so great to be back in the air. I was a little nervous, but with no community transmission in New Zealand, it’s perfectly safe. I sat in front of NZ’s deputy Prime Minister – a reminder that this really is a teeny little country!
Life is so normal here that community sport has even resumed, to the great delight of Joe and the North Shore Seagulls. I’m a very happy sideline supporter, especially when it’s this sunny and warm!
We finished the month with a friend’s boozy 30th birthday celebration on Waiheke Island. Not many photos taken can be shown in public, but we woke up to this gorgeous view from a historic villa, – amazing!
And that was June! As I write I’m sitting in a chalet above a beautiful West Coast black sand beach, watching the breakers roll in from the Tasman Sea. So I’ve achieved my main July aim of a holiday away! Gotta support that domestic tourism… and it’s not too hard in a country this stunning.
How is summer or winter treating you? I hope you are staying safe, wherever you are.
