I’ll be home for Christmas… and I am so flippin’ excited about it! Right now I’m sitting in Heathrow Terminal 2, counting down until I can get on that plane and fly away home. I’m picturing golden beaches, laughing with friends, blue skies and of course the many many family hugs I’m about to get in.
This morning’s London sunrise – my last for a while!
It’s an odd thing as an expat. No one is making me stay here. I even have a British passport, so I can leave and come back whenever I like, unlike many of my friends eking out every drop of London and Europe fun before their two-year working visa runs out. I actively love living in London, and am not sure at all when my time there will end, if it does at all. But I am like an over-excited kid on Christmas Eve (funny that), wriggling in my seat at Heathrow, impatiently counting down. It makes me feel a bit like I’m cheating on London. Like this crazy, bustling, endless opportunities, fascinating city somehow isn’t enough for me right now.
My view very soon
I guess, even if I’m feeling ALL THE EMOTIONS right now, what I will keep remembering is that I am very lucky to live where I choose and also be able to fly home for Christmas – literally on the other side of the world. And once I get there, I have my amazing family and friends to visit, hug, and laugh with. Keep that sunshine and warmth going for me New Zealand – I’ll see you very soon!
I’ll be blogging while I’m back, so keep checking here or on Bloglovin’ for more posts on Dubrovnik, Ibiza and of course my New Zealand adventures. I’ll also be on Instagram and Snapchat (I’m jessinz). Merry Christmas to all that celebrate it, and a very happy New Year!
