Now this particular throwback to Bali is going pretty far back indeed…
How hilarious is this? My sister and I are both looking less that perfectly impressed, despite the fact that we were at an incredible Balinese temple complex. Along with our parents and brother, we were lucky enough to spend a week in Bali exploring its beautiful temples, beaches, rice paddies and mountains. I remember being awestruck by the incredible scenery, and intrigued by the presence of ritual in everyday Balinese life. To my untrained eyes, the tiny offerings of frangipani, leaves, and small pieces of food carefully placed all around homes, businesses and streets were a gateway to a world that I otherwise had little experience of. Bali gave me some unique memories, from having a python draped around my neck (I promise you, that photo will never make the blog), to seeing the mist rise on stone temples tucked into the volcanic hillsides. I’d love to return some day soon to see how my young memory matches up with the present day!
Side-note: Doesn’t my sister have the best six-year-old style ever?!? Love the matching bag and jelly sandals!
