I’ve been quiet on the blog this week as I spent a long weekend with friends in Norway! We headed first to Stavanger to climb up to the incredible Preikestolen, or Pulpit Rock. It was fantastic to get out into the countryside and a nice change from the usual city-break weekend. The climb itself was not especially taxing, although there were some fun moments with scrambling up boulders and avoiding, or in my case stepping full length into, deep mud puddles. The views at the top made the effort, and the tired muscles the next day, well worth it!
We also spent some time exploring Stavanger’s pretty streets and quirky cafes, at a slower pace! I played Cards Against Humanity for the first time and all I can say is, make sure you are pretty comfortable with the people you are playing with – those are some seriously offensive fill-in-the-blanks!
Most of us then continued on to Bergen, a tiny hop north by plane. We were drawn there by tales of gorgeous wooden buildings lining a harbour with rolling hills all around, and I was far from disappointed with these picture-perfect views.
This time around we let a boat do all the work in getting us out into nature, and took a short cruise up the Ost Fjord. The towering cliffs and waterfalls tumbling down into the deep waters below reminded me of New Zealand’s South Island – just stunning.
What’s been happening in your week? Any upcoming travel plans?
