I was all set to regale you with my favourite Barcelona sights – I managed to squeeze in quite a few in just 24 hours there with Joe last summer. A One Week Road Trip Around Sunny Southern Spain
Seville, Cadiz, Granada… such evocative names, conjuring up images of sun-soaked alleyways, white-washed buildings and tables groaning with tapas. In our week-long road trip around Andalucia we saw all of these, but also fields of sunflowers and wind turbines, ancient cathedrals and quiet villages. There’s much more to this region than just the big cities and I’m happy to say that we had a wonderful time combining tourist hotspots with tranquil towns. Here’s where we went – with thanks to Zoe aka Cultural Doodles for the beautiful map!

Granada, in southern Spain, is a beautiful city. I got to visit twice last year, and even better, as my sister and her boyfriend were based there I had two local guides whose interests were very closely aligned to my own. So there was a lot of eating, a lot of street art spotting, and a lot of exploring Granada’s fascinating history. Here’s five awesome things to do when you visit!
Exploring Gorgeous Ronda
To drive from the bustle of Seville to the quiet countryside near Ronda takes just a couple of hours but in passing from flat plains to windy mountain roads, it’s not just the scenery that transforms. After a whirlwind few days on our Andalucian Road Trip, it was time to kick back at a farmstay and enjoy the serenity. The one place that demanded attention however, was the beautiful village of Ronda. Perched high on a hill that is riven in two by a ginormous gorge (hence my blog title… anyone out there giggling with me?!), we spent a morning wandering its sun-soaked streets and marveling at the drop.
