With our time living in the UK speeding to an end, we were determined to fit in sight-seeing in some of the most beautiful areas of the UK. When we saw the lineup for Manchester’s Parklife Festival, featuring some of our favourite bands, fit perfectly as well, we knew that this would be a road-trip to remember! To see how we spent four days road-tripping from Manchester in England to Inverness in Scotland via the Lake District, Loch Lomond and the Isle of Skye, read on! And don’t forget the handy map at the end…
Signs of Spring at Hever Castle
Last Easter I did the (for me) unthinkable… I didn’t plan a holiday away! Study demanded instead that I spend most of the chilly days writing essays and highlighting cases. As a treat to myself, I planned a day trip – to beautiful Hever Castle. An easy train ride from London, I was intrigued by its history as Anne Boleyn’s childhood home. However on the day I spent far more time exploring its beautiful gardens, where tulips boomed and wisteria waved in the breeze – the perfect study break!
Hiking the Seven Sisters
You know those days where you feel unstoppable, blown away by the beauty of the world or just happy to be alive? My day out hiking the Seven Sisters in East Sussex brought me all these emotions, as well as a hefty dose of Vitamin D. I can’t recommend this walk highly enough – and you can make it as long or short as you like, so that just about anyone can get there and experience this beautiful part of the world.
The Punt Life in Cambridge
I was pleased enough with my wonderful morning exploring Cambridge’s colleges and back streets, but little did I know that the best fun was yet to come. Without a doubt, punting down the River Cam is the best way to see the town, allowing you to peek into back gardens and admire the gorgeous architecture – all from the comfort of your seat!
