Hahei and Whitianga are exceptionally popular parts of the Coromandel in summer, with their gorgeous white-sand beaches and turquoise waters. The good news is those attractions are still there in winter – just without the crowds! We had a lovely girls’ weekend away there in August, and were blessed with lots of sun on the empty sands. An extra treat was spending some time soaking ourselves in the amazing Lost Spring hot pools in Whitianga!

Bethells Beach, or Te Henga, is a gorgeous stretch of black sand on Auckland’s West Coast – perfect for blowing away the cobwebs. But make sure you don’t miss the beautiful lake and fantastic bush walk, tucked away behind the black sand dunes.
Exploring Whangarei Heads
I’m so excited to start sharing more of my New Zealand adventures! It didn’t feel appropriate while NZ was on a heavy lockdown, but now we’re lucky enough to be able to start traveling domestically again. I hope that we won’t be too far from welcoming international visitors back to our shores as well.
We celebrated Easter last year with a getaway to Whangarei Heads. I’m sorry to say that historically, the Whangarei area was just a pit-stop for me on my way further north. No longer will I make this mistake! With four days we were able to spend a lot of time relaxing, and exploring this beautiful corner of New Zealand.
