I was all set to regale you with my favourite Barcelona sights – I managed to squeeze in quite a few in just 24 hours there with Joe last summer. But then I read this article and although it’s definitely not the first time the negative impacts of tourism on locals has made the headlines, the suggestions Elle put forward really started me thinking.
A city of 8 million – a country of 4 million. A global hub – a few islands tucked away at the bottom of the world. A centre of culture, sport, food and creativity – a country full of the same. A city of 2000 years of fascinating history – a country that’s home to many of my family and friends. How did I choose, and why now?
Judging from the #TravelLinkup posts so far it seems I’m not alone in having few travel plans set in stone for this year – but how exciting is that? 2018 may be almost a blank page, but I look forward to filling it with as many colourful adventures as I did 2017. Happy New Year!
Without a doubt, this is one of my favourite posts to write. It’s always a pleasure to look back on my year of travels, and to compare it with where I thought I might end up. From NZ to Spain to Norway and lots in between, 2017 has been another exciting year. Tricky to narrow down my favourites, but here we go!
