I decided to kick off my first full day in Sydney by heading to the coast to do the Coogee to Bondi walk. I’d heard that it was a must-do and now I completely agree.
It was a beautiful day and already warm when I arrived at the gorgeous white sands of Coogee. Fortified by a coffee, I headed to the cliffs to begin. The walk takes in a number of stunning bays and headlands over six kilometres, and I loved how around each corner there was a different view, culminating in the long curve of Bondi.
I took my time rambling along, soaking in the vistas, and enjoying the sunshine. I was impressed by how well-developed and maintained the path was. There were plenty of people making the most of this gorgeous day.
It’s hard to pick a highlight of the walk, but the crystal-clear blue waters were amazing, particularly in Gordon’s Bay where they met the steep ochre cliffs. Further along, I was stunned by Waverley Cemetery, which has to be one of the most spectacularly-sited cemeteries anywhere.
Once I made it to Bondi I grabbed a yummy sandwich from a local store and enjoyed it on the almost-empty sands.
If you’re in Sydney, definitely make time to do this walk for a different perspective on the city, and some amazing views.
