April was all about making the most of the late summer sunshine and warm temperatures that we were blessed with in New Zealand this year – and trying not to ponder too hard whether it was global warming! We headed up north for an Easter escape with friends which we spent relaxing, playing endless rounds of games (Bananagrams is my new fave), reading and exploring, with the literal highlight being our climb up Mount Manaia. Here’s my April!
Reflections on Muriwai beach – one of a string of black sand beaches on Auckland’s west coast
A sunrise run in Takapuna
Brave mid-autumn swimmers at Takapuna beach!
Sunrise at Westhaven Marina in the city of sails!
Late afternoon in Taurikura, our Easter getaway. Located near Whangarei in Northland, it was a super relaxed spot, with beautiful beaches and not too many people!
Going up! The view up to the top of Mt Manaia was a little ominous as we started our hike…
… but I’d climb all eleventy billion steps again for this view!
Gorgeous Ocean Beach was also just a short drive away
Autumn is most definitely in the air!
May is looking pretty relaxed – no travels at the moment, so I’ll be trying to make the most of my weekends, weather allowing, to explore more locally. I’m not getting too restless though – our trip back to London is (sort of) just around the corner! I can’t wait to see all our friends, visit my favourite old haunts, and (of course) party at my fourth Glastonbury Festival!!
What does your May hold?
