The sun came out in London on the weekend and it was amazing. Everyone seemed to have a spring in their step and there were huge numbers of people out making the most of the beautiful day. I headed to Kensington Palace with friends to visit the home of Queen Victoria, Princess Diana and now William and Kate.
The exhibitions were interesting and gave me a much better sense of Queen Victoria’s life, as she was a monarch I didn’t know a lot about, except for the exceptional length of her reign! A lot of the displays were interactive and very well-presented.
However, it was far too nice a day to spend inside and we soon escaped to the beautiful gardens around the palace.
We spotted the ‘Boris Bikes’ that seem to be everywhere in central London and decided that would be the perfect way to see more of the park – and they were! I would highly recommend them for London exploring, particularly in the parks as there were plenty of cycling paths and lanes, meaning we weren’t dealing with any traffic more intimidating than a high-speed rollerblader.
Homeward bound, we passed this beautiful church in Hammersmith – I loved the effect of the evening sun on the bricks. London in the sunshine – magic!
