I don’t know whether it’s the fun of dining al fresco or my major food FOMO which is best quelled by having multiple small courses, but I have major love for street food markets.  While you can’t go past the big beasts like Borough and Broadway for pure variety, I also appreciate the smaller markets like Netil and Maltby St for their sweet size and emphasis on quality.  So when I saw that Little Feast had popped up for the summer in Shepherd’s Bush, I knew I would have to give it a try!

One of my favourite parts of London is how truly multicultural it is – you can hear a hundred different languages in the tube, and it makes for an amazing dining scene too!   Brick Lane is one of London’s most famous dining streets, thanks to its rich heritage.  Once the home of Jack the Ripper and London’s first Sunday market, in the later 20th century the area became the hub of London’s Bangladeshi community.  Now a multitude of curry houses line the street, delicious smells wafting towards the market-shoppers of Spitalfields.

I deliberately made sure I was sufficiently hungry when I visited with the girls that I could truly appreciate the curry’s fine flavours – and still have room for a samosa or two!

I tried a type of curry I’d never had before – Ceylon.  It had the addition of coconut, which I love and was absolutely bowl-scrapingly delicious!

After all that tastiness a wander was just what we needed, and I made sure to stop by one of my favourite pieces of street art – simple but beautiful.
