When Nicole asked me if I wanted to join her on the first Photo Hunt I didn’t hesitate – and I’m so glad. The wonderful organisers, Ché, Lulu and Bobbi, mixed up photography, scavenger hunts and mingling into one fabulous event in Shoreditch. Their aim was to provide “An interactive event for bloggers, photographers and creatives to engage and connect in a fun and inspiring environment” and they completely succeeded!
After being put into our teams and given the low-down on how the day would work, we were let loose on Shoreditch. Sarah, Nicole and I formed the Pink Cupcakes and quickly began spotting potential photos on every corner. The idea was to track down the 50 possible photos and earn the allotted points, from the easy (Shoreditch graffiti earned 5 points) to the extra-tricky (getting the entire team in a human pyramid earned 70 points).
I really enjoyed how The Photo Hunt forced me to look at my surroundings with new eyes – we were constantly scanning up, down and around to see what we could find to include in our photos, and it forced us to get creative, especially within the time limit. We also got well out of our comfort zones with asking strangers for everything from their child’s scooter to compete in running races!
When our time was up we all met back at Boxpark to swap stories and have the prizes awarded. Meeting all the fabulous bloggers and experiencing the first Photo Hunt was definitely a highlight of my month. The organisers did a fabulous job and I’ll definitely be there in March 2014 for the next one! If you’d like to be as well, check out their website for all the details.
