Buying things from kids when you’re overseas might initially seem like a great call.  They are so gosh-darn cute!  And you’re (hopefully) supporting their family.  But  you might also be encouraging their continued exploitation by their parents or elders.  So maybe not such a great call after all.

I didn’t buy anything from this wee girl on the mountain above Sapa, Vietnam, but she was gorgeous and very persistent!

Sapa was definitely one of the highlights of my first trip to Vietnam.  This beautiful mountain town is located quite near the border with China, and boasts amazing treks and stunning scenery.  And cute kids, of course!
