One backpack. No return ticket. Off to see the world.
While one part of me dreams of taking off on a round-the-world trip with no fixed plans or end-date, the reality is that right now that’s not what I can, or even want, to do. I’m here in London to make the most of my ability to work and live in Europe, and to take short trips as often as I can. My inspiration for new destinations comes from friends, cheap flights, and of course the multitude of awesome travel bloggers, including those who focus on making the most of their part-time travel.
Claire of Need Another Holiday has recently started the awesome challenge of #Take12Trips, which fits perfectly with my reason for moving to London, and has also inspired me to think more about the shorter trips I can take within the UK. Her mission is to get people off the couch and out travelling, whether that is a day-trip to the beach or a flight to somewhere exotic. I started my #Take12Trips challenge with my recent trip to Lisbon with Nicole of A LIfe Less Beige, and am going to use it as a way to keep myself motivated to travel and explore. I don’t want to get sucked into the routine of normal life. I want to keep looking at London with fresh eyes, and to keep being thrilled by how accessible Lisbon, or Budapest, or Turkey is.
If you’d like to join in the #Take12Trips challenge, all you have to do is plan your next trip. Large or small, extreme-sports or beach-lounging or art-gallery going, it’s all about getting out there and seeing the world!
